The Morning Chorus is a soulful world music choir based in Bristol. We sing a delicious mix of world folk song from near and far away places, as well as a sprinkle of more contemporary numbers from soul, blues, jazz, disco, pop and Motown. Anything with a groove to stir you, and lush harmonies to uplift.
There is a large playful and creative element to what we do, musical games are played, sound experiments are made and fun is had, providing optimum feelgood factor, while creating brilliant music.
We are still newly established in our second year, and have had a brilliant first year performing at Bristol Festival of Song, many Hamilton House events and starting our own choir-hosted open mic night.
We are an ever-growing, lively bunch and always welcome to new members. No previous experience is needed, all abilities and ages are welcome, and there is no need to read music as everything is taught by ear and parts are recorded for practising purposes.
Please be aware that if you are a beginner, then it is advisable to join from the beginning of term (if possible) and/or attend regularly in order to boost your confidence. We aim to perform regularly, so if you do drop in on a day when we are ‘practising hard’ for a performance, don’t be put off!
Sessions are led by local musician and natural voice practitioner Isolde Freeth-Hale. For more info and updates, please join the Facebook page or see contact details below.
