The Antics Joke Show Ft. Jollyboat

What’s this? Didn’t we have a hilarious madcap evening of sketches, improv and stand-up comedy in April already? Why yes. Yes we did. But we pay no heed to such concerns as consistency or regularity - our April is so bursting with incredible acts, we just had to bring you a second Antics Joke Show! So come one and all to Cafe Kino on April 29th, where you will see:

Jollyboat are the UK's top comedy pirate nerd rock duo. Mixing comedy, live music, visuals, audience interaction and a little behind-the-scenes computer programming, Jollyboat put on a show unlike anything you've seen before!

They have performed at Glastonbury among many other festivals, won the UK Musical Comedy Awards, and toured Europe & Australia. Jollyboat's act is energetic, visual and packed with fast-paced gags. They always have fun, and it's highly infectious!

Up The Antics is a sketch and improvisational comedy group from Bristol, U.K. Established in 2014 as ‘The VA’ by graduates from Bath Spa University, as a company they have performed in and hosted a variety of live performances all over the country, including Bath Comedy Festival, the Southampton Comedy Fridge, and in various venues across London and Bristol.

Collaborating with friends and local artists, Up The Antics will showcase their bizarre and silly take on popular culture, social conventions and nerd nostalgia.

“Up The Antics [...] are taking the city by storm”
- The Bristol Magazine

Former President of Bath Spa University's comedy group The Idle Playthings, Conor has spent the past four years appearing in the Edinburgh Fringe certified show Ctrl-Alt-Sketch; featuring in Bath Spa University's first ever Summer Ball Comedy Tent; and performing poetry across Bath, Bristol and beyond. Whether it be wearing a false moustache, sporting homemade fruit brassieres or recounting the erotic nature of desserts, Conor enjoys pushing the more experimental and eccentric nature of comedy.

Sam Schӓfer is a stand-up from Melksham, Wiltshire. He performs live, contributes to podcasts and produces various comedy projects. We are delighted to welcome him to the Cafe Kino stage and the Antics Joke Show!

"Sam Schäfer does my club all the time and he is really good" - Josie Long.

"Elaborately essayistic" - Broadway Baby 4 Stars.
